Hair Loss Treatments

Posted under hair loss treatments by admin on Friday 19 September 2008

Hair loss is a very common and often serious problem, one that affects men and women around the world. Shedding 50 to 100 hairs a day is normal and not problematic, but once you are losing more than that and noticing bald spots on your head, you probably have a hair loss problem.

Abnormal hair loss can be due to one or more of a number of different causes, but a few of the most common factors responsible are genetics, stress, and depression.

High fever and severe infection are other reasons you may be losing your hair, and from four weeks to three months after you have a high fever or go through with a major surgery, you can expect a significant amount of hair to fall out. The difference here is that the hair loss should only be temporary.

Inadequate protein in a diet may also result in hair loss, as some vegetarians and people who have severely abnormal eating habits may develop protein malnutrition which often results in hair thinning or loss. Massive hair shedding can occur two to three months after they begin eating this way, but again this type of hair loss is temporary and the hair will regrow once they begin back on their regular diet.

Treatment

If you are suffering from hair loss, hair loss treatment is the next step. There is an array of different products available on the market today, and the important thing is that you take the time to find the right one for you.

Rogaine is one of the hair loss treatments that most people are familiar with. It is very fast acting and effective, and definitely one of their hair loss products that should be at the top of your list. If you want to get the most out of Rogaine you will need to apply it correctly, twice a day, every single day.

It will take a few weeks for the Rogaine to start working, but keep in mind that for the first few days or so you may actually experience more hair loss but this should not freak you out and as long as you continue using it you will notice a reverse in the hair loss within 3-4 weeks.

This is just one of the many different treatments that are out there, and it may take you a bit of trial and error before you are able to achieve the results that you are looking for.

What are best women's hair loss treatments?

ormonal imbalance, surgery and pregnancy can cause hair loss. Certain medications like contraceptive pills, blood thinners and anti-fungal medicines lead to hair loss. Chemotherapy treatment can cause massive amounts of hair to fall out. The treatment meted out to the hair can have an impact on your hair loss. If you are tying your hair back regularly, it results in alopecia, where the scalp is scarred and new growth of hair stops. Besides, perming, coloring, blow-drying, using inferior quality hair care products and nutritional deficiencies are the other major factors in hair loss.

What are some good remedy to prevent male hair loss and promote hair growth WITHOUT using Rogaine???

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

I know someone in his early twenties and has a noticeable hair thinning at the back of his head. Does saw palmetto really prevent hair loss and promote hair regrowth? What about those thickening shampoos? Are there any other remedies? He really needs help

1.Saw palmetto is believed to have a similar mechanism of action to the anti-androgenic drug finasteride (Propecia), which has been used in low doses for hair loss.

2.Folic acid, biotin, vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), and silica are supplements that may help maintain the color and thickness of hair.

3.Be sure to check your daily intake of zinc through supplements. Intake of 30 mg or higher for more than three months can induce a deficiency of copper, and low copper levels can result in hair loss.

4.The results of one research study suggest that the essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood mixed with an oil and applied on the areas of hair loss may stimulate hair growth.

Hair Oil Recipe -
3 drops of essential oil of thyme

3 drops of essential oil of lavender

3 drops of essential oil of rosemary

3 drops of essential oil of cedarwood

1/8 cup of grapeseed oil

1/8 cup of jojoba oil

Mix the ingredients together. Cover your pillow with an old towel. Apply several drops of the mixture to areas of hair loss each night, massaging gently into scalp for 3-5 minutes. Store the oil tightly covered. Do not take internally or near the eye area.

5.In traditional Chinese medicine, hair loss is linked to kidney deficiency syndrome. Other symptoms of kidney deficiency are weakness and fatigue and low back weakness. Kidney energy is believed to naturally decline with age, but people with early or accelerated hair loss may have particularly weak kidney energy. Kidney tonics are usually recommended.

My friend wants to know some inexpensive hair loss treatments that work well.?

Posted under hair loss treatments by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

There's only two drugs clinically tested and FDA approved : Minoxidil (Rogaine and other brands) and Finasteride (Proscar, Propecia, etc.), there are some interesting drugs too like Dutasteride or Follica but there aren't enough studies yet.
If you're into natural stuff, the only one that might be helpful is Saw Palmeto (there are capsules for sale in natural shops) because it contains anti androgens similar to the ones found on Propecia.

Minoxidil if you buy generic brands it's quite cheap and Proscar if you get the generic version it's reasonably cheap and will last you a long time.

Quite frankly all the other stuff are either placebos or scams.
