It is human nature to act when the damage is already done. Many would not know how to prevent hair loss and will only take action when hair is already lost. Learning how to prevent this stressful situation in life will give you the peace of mind that you deserve even if the problem is hereditary.

Sleep - just like the human body, hair grows at its finest and strengthens during sleep, it is no wonder doctors advice on a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night.

Shower on a daily basis - in some cases, hair loss is always the result of a scalp that is clogged with dirt and excess sebum. Such an environment weakens the shafts and would lead to fallout. The good news is that by washing the head on a regular or even daily basis using the right shampoo and hair conditioner, you will be able to maintain a clean scalp that is the ideal environment for optimal natural hair growth.

Diet - As it is a well known fact, hair is made up of a type of protein known as keratin. As such, foods such as oatmeal, eggs, lean meats, legumes, peanuts, almonds, whole grain bread and cottage cheese are known to prevent hair loss as they are rich in protein.

Develop the habit of massaging your scalp - a sure way you can prevent hair loss is to try as much as you can to promote hair growth, and what better way to do that than by massaging the scalp on a daily basis. Spending as little as 5 minutes every day massaging your scalp can make all the difference in the world for you.

Stick to natural styling hair products - while styling products are fun and exciting, most of them come heavy-laden with chemicals that lead to hair loss. Using natural styling products therefore, such as the Aloe Vera Styling Gel, could be all that you need to do prevent hair loss.

How To Prevent Hair Loss And Restore Extra Hair

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by Stuart Stilton on Monday 5 October 2009

One thing you ought to realize on how to prevent hair loss, is that not all of it is preventable. A large amount of individuals lose just about 100-150 hairs daily, that is completely typical. Particular events, for instance sicknesses or diseases, pregnancies, surgical procedures, or even just life-shifting and stressful times can spark off larger amounts of hair loss. To remind you, these are treatable and, in the majority of cases, momentary.

There are a number of ways to prevent abnormal hair loss.

1 - Stay healthy. If you need to improve blood circulation then you need to eat well and get enough exercise. If you are healthy, your scalp will be healthy too, leading to the effective growing and natural replacement of your hair. So it is important to stay healthy and get sufficient exercise to improve your body’s circulation.

2 - Stop injuring your hair. Harsh shampoos and coloring/treatment products, used in excess, will kill your hair. Your follicles cannot replace hair as fast as it is falling out when your hair is severely damaged. Likewise, use dry heat as little as possible - blow dryers and curling irons dry out and crack hair, causing it to break off in more than normal amounts.

3 - Minimize your anxiety and stress. You are going to lose more than your hair if you have a tendency to let stressful situations get the better of you, or if you have trouble sleeping or constantly worry. However, it’s unavoidable that you will lose more and more hair.

4 - Apply topical lotions to your scalp. In order to keep follicles open and productive, essential oils and combinations of herbs are recommended.

5 - Use medical products both in lotion and pill form developed by variety of pharmaceutical companies.

6 - Begin soon. You should start looking into different types of treatments the moment you find out that your hair loss is not the result of a secondary condition. You will need to try different methods and be patient waiting for results. It’s likely that you will have to wait for up to 6 months before there is any noticeable effect.

7 - Don?t give up. Use the product that works best for you right now, and look for new advances in the area of hair loss. Medical research is “on this,” in a big way, and lots of money is being poured into the search for a permanent, universally effective treatment.

8 - If none of the programs work to your satisfaction give thought to other solutions such as wigs or hair pieces, hair extensions or transplants.

Worry and misery over hair loss is not worth your time and energy, especially if it starts to change your temper, your social life, and your general emotional well-being. So if you choose to enhance your life, then take this guidance for how to prevent hair loss.

What are some good remedy to prevent male hair loss and promote hair growth WITHOUT using Rogaine???

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

I know someone in his early twenties and has a noticeable hair thinning at the back of his head. Does saw palmetto really prevent hair loss and promote hair regrowth? What about those thickening shampoos? Are there any other remedies? He really needs help

1.Saw palmetto is believed to have a similar mechanism of action to the anti-androgenic drug finasteride (Propecia), which has been used in low doses for hair loss.

2.Folic acid, biotin, vitamin B5, para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA), and silica are supplements that may help maintain the color and thickness of hair.

3.Be sure to check your daily intake of zinc through supplements. Intake of 30 mg or higher for more than three months can induce a deficiency of copper, and low copper levels can result in hair loss.

4.The results of one research study suggest that the essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedarwood mixed with an oil and applied on the areas of hair loss may stimulate hair growth.

Hair Oil Recipe -
3 drops of essential oil of thyme

3 drops of essential oil of lavender

3 drops of essential oil of rosemary

3 drops of essential oil of cedarwood

1/8 cup of grapeseed oil

1/8 cup of jojoba oil

Mix the ingredients together. Cover your pillow with an old towel. Apply several drops of the mixture to areas of hair loss each night, massaging gently into scalp for 3-5 minutes. Store the oil tightly covered. Do not take internally or near the eye area.

5.In traditional Chinese medicine, hair loss is linked to kidney deficiency syndrome. Other symptoms of kidney deficiency are weakness and fatigue and low back weakness. Kidney energy is believed to naturally decline with age, but people with early or accelerated hair loss may have particularly weak kidney energy. Kidney tonics are usually recommended.

How can i prevent hair loss?

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

Im only 21 and Ive lost some hair and my hair has thinned considerably. Are there any methods to prevent hair thinning/loss.

There's only two hair loss drugs clinically tested and FDA approved : Minoxidil (Rogaine and other brands) and Finasteride (Proscar, Propecia, etc.), there are some interesting drugs too like Dutasteride or Follica but there aren't enough studies yet.

If you're into natural stuff, the only one that might be helpful is Saw Palmeto (there are capsules for sale in natural shops) because it contains anti androgens similar to the ones found on Propecia.

Laser treatment can improve your existing hair but wont help you regrow lost hair, hair transplant works but i would consider it the last option especially since you're still young.

Minoxidil if you buy generic brands it's quite cheap and Proscar if you get the generic version it's reasonably cheap and will last you a long time.

Quite frankly all the other stuff are either placebos or scams.

How Do You Get A Lower Hairline and Prevent Hair Loss?

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

Alright I am a teenager. I have a little bit of a high hairline and everyone else in my family (men) lose their hair as they age.

1. What can I do to lower my hairline now?

2. And also, what can I do to prevent hair loss?

If a receding hairline is in your genes, then it's inevitable. While you can't prevent it, don't hasten it by treating your hair roughly with over-processing. A good cut can minimize a high hairline as well. Unfortunately, Rogaine won't restore a receding hairline, it only works on crown baldness, who knows why.

Anyone know the best natural way to prevent hair loss?

Posted under how to prevent hair loss by admin on Tuesday 16 September 2008

I am 27 male and starting to notice a slight thinning in my hair. My brother is 6 years older and pretty thin on top. I want to do everything I can to prevent it from getting worse. I heard that boiling sage in water and letting it soak on your head can help. I also have heard of nioxin. Anyone know the most effective way to prevent hair loss?

Jon, One of my college roomates started loosing his hair last year. After several different herbal, homebrew, and who knows what from the internet, he finally chose to visit a hair loss center. Initially he was nervous to go becasue he was scared it would cost too much, but he learned a lot from the free consultations. After 6 months he is finally starting to regain some hair. I wish I know exactly what treatment he is using, but maybe you could call a local clinic. http://www.hairlossandtreatment.com
